Our official Census population is just over 2,000 but we know there are many more people here than that, especially over the autumn and winter months when the weather is cool. There are 1,860 post office boxes often with a wait list! So likely up to 5,000 residents spread across the opal fields and representing over 50 nationalities with varied religions.
